Garmin Descent G1 can be used for much more than just diving, it is for example perfect for exercising, climbing mountains and many other activities. The new Garmin Descent G1 has a larger screen and has been given the option of having one or more transmitters attached.

Whether you dive with or without a bottle, in salt water or fresh water, whether you breathe nitrox, trimix or hold your breath, the Garmin Descent G1 is the intuitive and complete dive computer you've been waiting for. Decent G1 is a wearable dive computer with surface GPS, map on the screen in full color and position reference - so you can easily mark your start and end points1. When you're in the water, its proven Bühlmann ZHL-16c algorithm ensures you stay within your diving limits. Selectable sound and vibration alerts help keep you updated underwater. When you're back on the water, the Descent G1 also doubles as a rugged training companion with the best features from our ultimate fēnix® 5X multisport GPS watch, including smart notifications to help you stay connected while on the go. And the Descent G1 is designed so smartly, comfortably and elegantly that you will also want to use it as an everyday watch.

Breathe easier, dive better

Providing easy access to functions for a range of diving activities – including the ability to plan dives on the device for recreational, technical and free dives – the Descent G1 caters for all the important real-time data you need for a safe dive. The computer automatically activates when you hit the water and displays your current depth, dive time, water temperature, ascent and descent rate, no-decompression time, decompression stop information, battery life and more on the unit's razor-sharp 1.2" color screen.

You can set audible tone alarms and vibration alarms to remind you of critical points in your dive. Up to 6 different gas mixes are supported including nitrox and trimix (up to 100% oxygen) and it supports CCR. Configurable conservatism settings allow you to customize your personal security limits.

More navigation sensors

In addition to the high-sensitivity GPS and Multi GNS satellite tracking for map-based navigation over water, the Descent G1 also has a full range of ABC sensor functions (altimeter, barometer and compass). In addition, the easy-to-read compass display is available for underwater use. The built-in altimeter provides altitude data, while the tilt-compensated 3-axis electronic compass keeps your course for you – whether you're moving or not. To quickly access the compass, you can use the handy "tap for compass" feature to simply double-tap the screen instead of using the function keys.

Wrist-based pulse measurement

Descent G1 uses Garmin Elevate wrist-based heart rate technology2 to optically scan your heart rate (when worn in contact with the skin, not over a wetsuit or drysuit). The dive computer detects your fatigue levels and automatically uploads your heart rate data to your Garmin Connect account for post-dive review and analysis.

Advanced multisport watch features

In addition to the full set of dive computer functions, the Descent G1 also has a full range of sports/training, fitness and outdoor navigation tools as known from our popular fēnix -series of advanced multi-sport watches. You can draw on a wide range of physiological parameters, cycling dynamics, fitness functions and much more – to monitor your training data, measure your progress and avoid injury. There are special preloaded activity profiles for swimming, running, cycling, hiking, skiing, rowing, paddle boarding and more. Various functions for timing, lap counter and map tracking are readily available. And as extra motivation, you can also download advanced workouts and training plans to your device from Garmin Connect.

Pair with the global inReach® satellite communicator

Get peace of mind on your wrist. Pair the Descent G1 dive computer and the Global inReach Mini® two-way satellite communicator (satellite subscription is required) . You can receive notifications and weather forecasts on your wrist and even issue an SOS from the surface directly from your watch. When you use the inReach Mini in the diving housing, which is water-rated to 10 ATM (or 100 meters), you can safely take it underwater and use it when you come back to the surface1.

Smart connection

When paired with a compatible smartphone, the Descent G1 makes it easy to receive texts, emails and smart notifications right on the watch face. It also gives you access to automatic transfers with Garmin Connect, audio messages, music control, etc. Once you're above water, family and friends can follow your position and adventure online in real time using the LiveTrack feature. You can also use GroupTrack and your map to keep track of the buddies you share activities with while you're on the go.

First class materials, elegant style

Descent G1 is made of premium materials and comes with: stainless steel bezel with treated silicone strap. It has Advanced GPS and Multi GNS satellite reception. which provides better reception in challenging environments (as opposed to GPS alone). A bright, high-resolution full-color Garmin Chroma™ display with LED backlighting ensures good readability in all lighting conditions, both above and below water. And to achieve greater scratch resistance, both models have a dome-shaped sapphire crystal.

Charge it, transform it

Between charges you can expect up to 25 hours of battery life in diving mode, up to 124 days in smartwatch mode with solar charging, and up to 39 hours in GPS -mode also for solar charging. With QuickFit™ straps, you can adapt your style on the wrist for any daily activity or special occasion - without the need for tools. And for diving, longer QuickFit straps are included for use over thick wetsuits or drysuits.

You can customize the watch screen with free watch faces, apps and data fields from our Connect IQ™ Store. For your safety, the Connect IQ functions are not available during diving to ensure that all diving functions work as intended. The Descent G1 is also Wi-Fi® enabled, so they can both connect to your wireless network and automatically upload activities for sharing on Garmin Connect.
