Apeks' XTX regulator line has been around for over a decade and that they are still well regarded and popular speaks for the quality and performance.
If you want XTX200 performance but are looking to save some money, check out the XTX50. Apart from some elements of the appearance, the second steps are identical with the same left / right reversibility, efficient user adjustments, the possibility of replacing the air exhaust piece and the ComfoBite mouthpiece. The big difference is in the first step. The XTX50's first stage DST, is environmentally sealed like the XTX200's FSR first stage, but also offers a rotating low pressure port tower with the option of a new fifth low pressure port on top.
Like its big brother, the XTX50 has achieved perfect results in Scubalab's standard breathing machine test, and was even up there with the very best regulators. In the ocean, test divers rated the regulator's user adjustments as among the best in this test group. It offers minimal bubble disturbance, an efficient purge and effortless air supply in all diving positions.
Conclusion
If you like to dive with some of the best regulators, but your budget is on the lower end, then the XTX50 is a great way to get one lots of performance for not much money.

DIN to hanger coupling adapter |
|
|
In Denmark and places with colder waters, we mainly use DIN coupling between the first stage and the bottle, but in most places around the world with warm waters, the hook coupling/yoke/INT is clearly the most common. If you use your regulator set when traveling, it may therefore be a good idea to have an adapter with you that turns your DIN into a hanger coupling, as most bottles around the warm countries are made for a hanger coupling, so it just makes it easier to use your regulator set. |
