Zone3 opfandt opdriftsshorts tilbage i 2007 for at hjælpe med at forbedre vores svømmeteknik på en naturlig og effektiv måde. Det oprindelige produkt blev fremstillet af et 5/3 mm tykt glatskindsmateriale, men på grund af deres overvældende popularitet har Zone3 nu udgivet et design med mere opdrift og lavere luftmodstand kaldet »The Premium Option«.
Ved at bruge 3 mm Yamamoto #39 SCS på for- og bagpanelerne har Zone3 været i stand til at producere en blødere, lettere og mere fleksibel pasform, mens de 5 mm Aerodome-sidepaneler giver 30 % mere opdrift end standardneopren.
